On Monday, the European Union (EU) imposed a fine of 1.84 billion euros (approximately $2 billion) on Apple for purportedly exploiting its dominant market position in distributing music streaming apps to iPhone and iPad users through its Apple App Store. The Commission's inquiry uncovered that Apple prohibits developers of music streaming apps from adequately informing iOS users about alternative and more affordable music subscription services accessible outside the app store. Additionally, it restricts these developers from offering guidance on how users can subscribe to such alternative offers.

IBM Technology Expert Labs Expands In India, To Boost Adoption Of GenAI

Tech giant IBM has announced the expansion of its Technology Expert Labs capacity in India, aimed at expediting the adoption of generative artificial intelligence (genAI) and other pivotal technologies. Situated in Bengaluru and Kochi, the lab will concentrate on assisting clients in harnessing the full potential of technologies such as AI, Hybrid Cloud, and Cybersecurity, empowering them to maintain resilience and competitiveness in today's dynamic business environment, according to the company's statement.

AI Models Must Get Govt Nod Before Deployment

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has issued an advisory stating that any artificial intelligence (AI) models, including generative AI models, undergoing testing or deemed unreliable in any aspect, must obtain permission from the government before deployment in the country, the media has reported. This advisory follows recent incidents where users discovered inaccuracies and misleading information in responses from Google's Gemini AI chatbot regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
