Samsung Announces Galaxy Unpacked Event Date

A month after officially confirming that confirmed it will host its next Galaxy Unpacked event on its home turf in South Korea, for the first time, Samsung now has confirmed the date of the launch event. The South Korean tech giant is likely to officially unveil its next-gen foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series on July 26 in Seoul. Samsung is also likely to unveil new accessories such as the Galaxy Watch 6 series and the Galaxy Buds 3 TWS earphones, but some reports suggest that the company may not refresh its TWS lineup this year. All the previous iterations of Galaxy Unpacked events were held in European countries and the US, and this is the first time that Samsung would host its flagship Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea.

Carl Pei Visits Nothing's Chennai Manufacturing Facility

Consumer tech brand Nothing's founder Carl Pei has visited the brand's manufacturing facility in Chennai, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, ahead of the Nothing Phone (2)'s launch. Pei, after the visit, took to Twitter to announce that the facility has witnessed big improvement from last year. Nothing manufacturing unit in Chennai now has completely redone facilities with major improvements in cleanliness, security and processes, according to Pei. 

"Just visited our manufacturing facility in Chennai and here are my reflections," Pei tweeted after his visit to the Chennai facility.

Digital Personal Data Protection Bill Approved

Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Bill has received approval from the Union Cabinet and will be presented in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, as reported by PTI based on source inputs. The primary objective of this Bill is to hold entities accountable for the collection, storage, and processing of citizens' data, ensuring their right to privacy is protected. The draft of the DPDP Bill has been sanctioned by the Cabinet and will be tabled during the parliamentary session scheduled to take place from July 20 to August 11.

China's Metal Export Curbs: What TSMC Says About Manufacturing

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), which is one of the key iPhone makers for Apple and the biggest contract chipmaker in the world said on Thursday it does not foresee any direct impact on its manufacturing in the wake of the restrictions on exports of two metals widely used in semiconductors and electric vehicles by China, the media has reported. Earlier this week, China said it is going to curb the exports of products made from the minor metals of gallium and germanium, in a bid to protect national security. This announcement came after the Joe Biden administration said it is looking to limit China's access to cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft's Azure, to protect advanced technology.

Twitter Removes Need To Log In For Viewing Tweets

Several Twitter users noticed that some content was once again accessible to visitors even without logging in to an account, which means people can open Twitter links in a browser without having to log into an account. Clicking on a profile will also bring people to a user's Twitter page as well as their bio. Their follower and following will all be visible, the media has reported. This comes amid the launch of Twitter rival Threads by Meta-owned Instagram. With this Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is targeting Elon Musk-owned Twitter which has been drawing backlash in the wake of recent announcements.
