iPhone Maker Foxconn Looking To Make Chipsets In India
Key Apple iPhone manufacturer Foxconn is in talks with chip-making giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) and Japan's TMH Group for a joint venture (JV) technology partnership to set up semiconductor fab units in India, reported The Economic Times (ET) on Friday, citing people aware of the matter. As per the report, Foxconn is likely to finalise the details of the partnership to manufacture both advanced and legacy node chips soon. The company has been in discussions with TSMC and TMH Group for a considerable period.
EU Bringing Law For Easily Replaceable Batteries In Smartphones
The European Union (EU) has officially agreed upon new regulations that require smartphone makers to design their devices to let users easily replace the batteries on their devices, almost a month after the European Parliament voted to enact a law forcing OEMs of all battery-powered devices, including smartphones, to bring easily replaceable batteries. This also means there will be a fundamental change in how smartphones are designed and manufactured globally.
Netflix, Disney+, Others Asked To Review Content For Violence, Obscenity Before Release
The Centre has instructed streaming services such as Netflix and Disney to have their content independently reviewed for obscenity and violence before being made available online, according to a document from the Indian government and sources cited by Reuters. The proposal was presented to the streaming platforms during a meeting at the Information and Broadcasting Ministry headquarters in New Delhi on June 20. However, the streaming companies raised objections and no consensus was reached, as stated in the government meeting minutes and confirmed to Reuters by an industry source present at the meeting.

The Supreme Court on Friday said it will hear on October 10 the cross-pleas of Google and the Competition Commission of India (CCI) challenging the verdict of an appellate tribunal in a case related to Google's alleged anti-competitive practices in the Android mobile device case. A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices P S Narasimha and Manoj Misra took up the appeals and said it wanted “some time to get ready” with the case.
Twitter Employees Found To Use Meta Platform Threads
A recent analysis conducted by The Daily Beast revealed that a minimum of 31 Twitter employees had registered accounts on Meta's Threads, a new social media platform. The publication randomly selected 133 Twitter employees based on their LinkedIn profiles and cross-referenced them with Threads accounts, although independent verification of this information was not possible.
