In a bid to support local news publishers in the country, Google on Friday launched the "Indian Languages Programme" under its News Initiative in India. With support for a total of nine languages, including English, Bengali, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, and Marathi, this programme stands out as Google's most diverse technology programme for news publishers.

AC Makers Confident Of 15% Yearly Growth Despite Erratic Rains

Early summer and sudden rains, this is what the national capital has been witnessing this year, courtesy of the unstable weather pattern. May was unusually cool with the city clocking a maximum temperature which was 10-13 degrees below the normal temperature on some days. According to a World Bank report "Climate Investment Opportunities in India’s Cooling Sector", by 2037 the demand for cooling equipment such as air conditioners, refrigerators and cold chains is likely to be eight times higher than the current demand. Demand for a new air conditioner will increase every 15 seconds, leading to a 435 per cent rise in annual greenhouse gas emissions over the next two decades.

OnePlus' New Experience Store Is A Mercedes Bus

At a time when tech giants Apple and Samsung are focusing on offline expansion in India, handset maker OnePlus has joined the league and announced the second iteration of OnePlus Roadtrip. OnePlus' new experience store is a Mercedes bus on wheels that will cover several regions across the country. The vehicles carrying a range of OnePlus products, including the OnePlus 11 Concept, originally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023, the flagship OnePlus 11 lineup, and the new OnePlus Pad, among others, will cover more than 25 cities in India.

Almost 50% Of Smartphones Sold Worldwide In Q1 Had OLED Screens

Almost 50 per cent of smartphones sold globally in the first quarter (Q1) of 2023 came with OLED screens, says a new report by Counterpoint Research. The share of OLED display smartphones in global smartphone sales hit a record high of 49 per cent in Q1, according to Counterpoint Research’s Global Handset Model Sales Tracker. The share of smartphones sold with OLED displays was 29 per cent in Q1 2020.

CEO Steve Huffman Says Reddit Was Never Made To Support Third-Party Apps

Reddit was never designed to support third-party applications, CEO Steve Huffman has said, breaking silence as the company faces a huge protest by thousands of Reddit communities against its policy to implement API pricing changes or charge third-party apps for data access. More than 8,000 Reddit communities, which have millions of subscribers, started protesting against Reddit's new API pricing changes that could kill off third-party apps.

Thousands of Reddit communities are still dark that are forcing some third-party developers to shut down their apps, in a protest against the API changes, says a report by The Verge. According to Reddit CEO, those third-party apps aren't adding much value to the platform.
