WWDC 2023: Apple AR/VR Headset Details Leaked Ahead Of Event

Apple's XR headset is likely to have micro-OLED displays with a peak brightness of more than 5,000 nits, says a new leak by famed Apple tipster.

With Apple set to host this year's iteration of the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2023 on June 5 where company CEO Tim Cook is likely to start the event with his keynote speech, the details of its much-awaited AR/VR headset have leaked ahead of the purported launch. Apple's XR headset is likely to have micro-OLED displays with a peak brightness of more than 5,000 nits, according to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants. The leaked peak brightness in the display of Apple's XR headset is much higher than an iPhone 14 Pro's panel with a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.

As expected, a major highlight of this WWDC 2023 will be Apple's MR headset even as we have had scarce information about the headset for many years.

The renowned Apple tipster also added that likely specifications of Apple's rumoured virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headset could be dual 1.41-inch micro OLED displays.

"You want more, I will give you more: Micro OLED specs for Apple's AR/VR headset: 1.41" in diagonal 4000 PPI >5000 nits of brightness," Young tweeted from his Twitter handle @DSCCRoss.

According to a few leaks and rumours, Apple is likely to name the AR/VR headset Apple "Reality Pro" and the device could be powered by a chipset similar to Apple's M2 SoC and could sport a dozen or so cameras to detect body movements as well as read facial expressions.

Meanwhile, Apple recently announced the schedule for its annual WWDC developers conference, which will begin on June 5 and run through June 9. According to the WWDC 2023 schedule, Apple will start the keynote on June 5 at 10 am PT or 10:30 pm IST. The Cupertino, California-based tech giant is likely to announce its next iOS ietartion, iOS 17, macOS 14, watchOS 10, its much-awaited AR/VR headset, and hardware, including a 15-inch MacBook Air, among others.
