Handset maker Xiaomi is set to launch Redmi 12 5G and Redmi 12 4G models in India on August 1. Redmi India has announced that the Redmi 12 5G will make its global debut in India at an event on Tuesday. The Redmi 12 4G was unveiled last month in several regions. The handset maker has not officially detailed the Redmi 12 5G's specs, but it has revealed a few key specs of the device that include 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, a 50MP primary camera, and a 5,000mAh battery. Redmi 12 5G is said to be unveiled in a Moonstone colourway with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard memory.

The handset maker has also detailed the design and a few specs via a dedicated landing page on its website. The device seems to have a curved screen with a hole punch cutout at the centre. The Redmi 12 5G is said to launch with the biggest display on a Redmi device.

A tip claimed last week that the Redmi 12 would be officially unveiled in both 4G and 5G variants in India. The starting price of the Redmi 12 4G would be Rs 9,999 while the price of the 5G variant would start at Rs 13,999.

According to leakster Tipster Abhishek Yadav, the upcoming Redmi 12 series would include the Redmi 12 4G and the Redmi 12 5G models. Per the leakster, the expected pricing of the models would be starting price of Rs 9,999 for the 4GB/128GB model and there would be another 6GB/128GB model. The Redmi 12 5G model would also get two configurations: 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB at a price starting at Rs 13,999. Redmi 12's competitors would be the Samsung Galaxy F44 and the Poco M5 Pro, among others. As per Geekbench, Redmi 12 5G would come with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset.
