Iqoo's Chief Gaming Officer To Be Paid In Lakhs For 6 Months

Vivo Group's brand Iqoo is seeking to appoint its first chief gaming officer and that person will be paid in lakhs in the first six months.

Vivo Group's brand Iqoo is seeking to appoint its first chief gaming officer and that person will be paid in lakhs in the first six months. According to the company, it is looking for a gaming enthusiast to join the handset maker's leadership team.

Iqoo's chief gaming officer will be joining forces with the leadership team at the handset maker, exchanging gaming insights to build a complete smartphone package for gamers that includes gameplay, gaming style, presentation and game interpretations. The CGO will also get an experience of working with top gamers across India.

The smartphone OEM will be paying its first chief gaming officer Rs 10 lakh in half a year. The registration process to appoint CGO starts on May 30 (today) and the handset maker will accept applications till June 11, 2023.

Iqoo and other smartphone OEMs such as Poco, Redmi and OnePlus are known to make competent smartphones that focus extensively on gaming capabilities, but this is the first time any handset maker seeks to appoint a chief gaming officer in India.

It is pertinent to mention that last year, India's gaming landscape reached new heights and Gen Z grabbed a whopping 17 per cent of the global game downloads, data shows.

“We recognise the undeniable passion and participation of Gen Z in gaming. With their distinct preferences, they have the power to reshape the gaming and entertainment landscape. Our aim is to simply lead the way in innovation and thrilling gaming experiences for Indian gamers. This bold initiative represents our commitment to enhancing mobile gaming and fostering the growth of aspiring talent in the industry," Nipun Marya, CEO of Iqoo, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, in a bid to reduce costs, smartphone brand Vivo in March announced it will merge iQoo into its main business. Vivo reportedly said the merger of both brands into one is also to "boost efficiency".
