An iPhone 14 Takeaway: A 6.1-Inch Phone Can Be The Ideal Form Factor

While there is no denying that viewing content on larger displays is a charm but using the iPhone 14, for its screen size and smaller build was super convenient.

Over the past few days, several reports have suggested that Apple has nixed the plan to increase the production of the vanilla iPhone 14 in the wake of low demand and the company is witnessing higher demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models and it is adjusting its production capacity for the higher-end models. The demand for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are in hot demand globally and that's why the standard iPhone 14 model has a shorter delivery time as compared to the delivery time of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max devices, according to data by Apple Product Availability Tracker by JP Morgan. This makes us wonder if this is why Apple ditched the iPhone mini variant this year, or if the smaller form factors aren't as good.

We all know that smartphones with small form factors aren't as popular as the giant Pro and Plus models as these are great for browsing the internet, watching films and playing games. However, when it comes to single-handedly operating a smartphone, big-screen phones fail miserably. There is a chunk of buyers that still prefer compact form factors in smartphones, against the norm of most flagships that go way beyond the 6-inch screen mark. Then there are the buyers with small hands that long for compact devices that can be handled comfortably.

While I have been a fan of big, bright AMOLED displays that Samsung makes, but using the Apple iPhone 14 changed my perception and I realised how important a small form factor is. While there is no denying that viewing content on larger displays is a charm but using the iPhone 14, for its screen size and smaller build was super convenient. I also have a short experience of using the iPhone SE, but for me, the iPhone 14's 6.1-inch display and the overall form factor are perfect. Well, almost.

Different sizes and different form factors change the way how you look at a smartphone and it takes some amount of time to get used to. Surprisingly, switching to the Apple iPhone 14 from the OnePlus 10T felt like a charm. It's still not possible for me to reach the top of the iPhone 14's display with one-handed usage, but I can scroll through the internet and check emails without feeling burdened by the iPhone 14 which weighs 172 grams.

The only feature that would've made the iPhone 14 a perfect package is the always-on display, which the tech giant has sadly reserved for the higher-end iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models.
