iOS 18 Update Could Be The Biggest Update In The History Of iPhones. Here's What To Expect
According to Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant is slated to announce iOS 18 update in June 2024 during the annual WWDC conference.
The much-awaited iOS 18 update from Apple is expected to represent a noteworthy milestone in the tech giant's history. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who provided insights of the upcoming iOS update in his recent Power On newsletter, iOS 18 update is anticipated to be "the biggest" yet, with internal appreciation at Apple for its notable advancements.
According to Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant is slated to announce iOS 18 update in June 2024 during the annual WWDC conference, and this time the update will be bigger than ever. The iOS 18 update is said to introduce a ton of new artificial intelligence (AI) centric features for iPhones.
"I'm told that the new operating system is seen within the company as one of the biggest iOS updates-if not the biggest-in the company's history," Gurman said.
This has generated anticipation leading up to Apple's upcoming annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, where the official announcement of the iOS 18 update is said to happen. The excitement surrounding iOS 18 grew further based on previous reports, which suggested that Apple's update would be not only innovative but also compelling.
To recall, Google introduced the Pixel 8 series, highlighting AI-powered features last year and this year, Samsung revealed AI enhancements for its flagship Galaxy S24 lineup of phones. Nevertheless, amid the AI buzz, Apple was somewhat trailing behind. However, the latest report by Gurman suggests that iOS 18 may bring a host of AI features for the iPhone line.
Meanwhile, Apple rolled out iOS 17.3, the most recent update to its iPhone mobile operating system (OS) last week. A notable addition to the latest iOS is the "Stolen Device Protection" feature, which introduces enhanced security measures to safeguard user data in case of a stolen phone. It is recommended for every iPhone user to prioritise enabling this feature, as it enhances data protection effortlessly and should be a top consideration.
Apple's addition of stolen device protection is designed to protect accounts and personal information, especially when the device is outside of familiar environments such as home or workplace. It minimises the risk of compromise in the event of theft.
