Google's Circle To Search Now On iPhone. Here's How To Use

Now, Apple iPhone users can also access a version of the Circle to Search feature through the Google app for iOS and an Apple Shortcut.

Circle to Search, Google's latest visual search feature initially launched on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and Google Pixel 8 series earlier this year, has gradually expanded to several other smartphones in recent months. Now, Apple iPhone users can also access a version of the Circle to Search feature through the Google app for iOS and an Apple Shortcut. However, unlike its Android counterpart, the iOS Shortcut for Circle to Search comes with certain limitations and depends on Google Lens.

Google Lens Design Manager Minsang Choi announced the introduction of a new Shortcut on the Google app for iOS through a post on X (formerly Twitter). Named "Search your screenshot," this feature allows users to execute a personalised action called "Search Image With Lens" via the Shortcuts app. Upon activation, the Shortcut captures a screenshot and uses Google Lens to analyse the image contents.

Android users can easily access the Circle to Search feature by holding the navigation bar, whereas iPhone users can streamline the launch of the Shortcut by assigning it to the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Additionally, on most recent iPhone models, you can navigate to Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap in the Settings app to initiate the Shortcut with a double tap or triple tap gesture.

How To Use Google's Circle To Search On iPhone

To use the Shortcut on an iPhone, it is essential to have iOS 13 or later installed and to download the most recent version of the Google app for iOS. You can access the Shortcut directly by tapping the link provided by Choi (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/7075610410c94d3a90e83d6a1f7d706b) on your iPhone. Alternatively, you can opt to configure the Shortcut manually by selecting "Take screenshot" followed by "Search Image With Lens."
