The wait to get 5G on their handsets is over for Apple iPhone users as the tech giant has released its iOS 16.2 beta, which will let users choose the 5G option for the newly launched iPhone 14, the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 12. Telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have rolled out 5G network in the major cities.
Apple rolled out the iOS 16 5G beta software programme earlier this week. This means Airtel and Jio customers can now experience super-fast next-gen 5G network services. Users on the iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and iPhone SE (third generation) models can experience 5G as part of Apple's iOS 16 beta software programme, before it becomes publicly available in December.
Some of the leading smartphone makers like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have already announced support for 5G airwaves and now iPhone users (beta) in the country can also use 5G on their handsets. We bring you a step-by-step guide on how to activate iOS beta on supported Apple iPhone models and use 5G network.
Here's how iPhone users can activate 5G on their handsets
Check if you are a part of the beta, and if not you need to register for the public beta programme from the company's official website. Please note that opting for the beta programme may mean getting a few buds too, apart from the 5G experience.
Once enrolled, go to Settings> General> Software Update and click on Software Update to check for the update.
Click on download and install the software update. (Note: Please back up the files and all data before installing any beta version on iOS).
After updating your handset to iOS 16.2 beta, which is the latest version of iOS that enables 5G, check if 5G network is available in your area.
To check if 5G is available in your area, go to Settings> Mobile Data> Mobile Data Option> Voice and Data and select 5G network (if available).
