Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Inspects COVID Care Facility In Chennai, Lauds Govt For 'Good Work'

Chennai: The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday inspected COVID-19 care centers in the state and lauded the local administration for doing 'great work' towards defeating the pandemic. The Minister arrived from New Delhi on Wednesday to take part in the government event to inaugurate 11 new medical colleges across Tamil Nadu. 

In a tweet, the Union Minister said, "During my visit to Tamil Nadu, I carried out an inspection of control rooms, COVID War Room, 108 control center and PSA Oxygen plants established under PM CARES at DMS Compound in Teynampet, Chennai."

"The local administration is doing great work towards defeating the COVID-19," he said.

Mandaviya also chaired a meet with the Regional Director of Directorate General of Health Services, National Centre for Disease Control officers, Deputy Director of DCGI, Regional Head of ICMR and FSSAI India in Chennai.

Meanwhile. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin handed over an 11-point memorandum to the Union Minister with demands including to exempt students from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. In the memorandum, the CM also requested the union government to expedite the establishment of AIIMS in Madurai and to allow the setting up of new AIIMS in Coimbatore. The CM also requested the Union government to fill BDS, MBBS and AYUSH courses with Class 12 marks.
