'Come To Tamil Nadu': Audio Clip of Kunal Kamra-Shinde Supporter Goes Viral

A viral audio clip allegedly features Kunal Kamra and a caller claiming to be a supporter of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The caller threatens Kamra over his comments on Shinde.

A purported 53-second audio tape conversation between Kunal Kamra and someone who claimed to be a supporter of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has gone viral on social media, amid a massive controversy over the comedian's recent "traitor" comment on Shinde.

ABP Live could not independently verify the authenticity of the clip.

The caller introduces himself as Jagadish Sharma and asks if he was talking to Kamra at the start of the conversation.

After that, Sharma tries to stop Kamra from criticising the 'Chief Minister Shinde Saab'. Kamra responded, "Isn't he deputy Chief Minister now?"

Excerpts from the conversation:

Kunal Kamra: Hello

Caller: Is this Kunal Kamra speaking?

Kunal Kamra: Yes, tell me

Caller: Jagadish Sharma speaking. What did you say about saheb in your video?

Kunal Kamra: Which saheb is this?

Caller: Shinde saheb, our (deputy) chief minister. What have you put out about him in your video?

Kunal Kamra: Where is he the chief minister now? He is the deputy chief minister

Caller: He is the deputy chief minister. What video have you put out about him?

Kunal Kamra: You saw the video right?

Caller: Saw it. Go and see what we have done to the hotel or studio. You will meet a similar fate wherever we find you (uses slangs). Understood?

Kunal Kamra: Come to Tamil Nadu. You will find me there.

Caller: Where do you stay?

Kunal Kamra: Tamil Nadu

Caller: Will come to Tamil Nadu and beat you up (uses slangs)

Caller (another person takes over the phone): Hello

Kunal Kamra: Come, come to Tamil Nadu

Caller: Where to come?

Kunal Kamra: Tamil Nadu

Caller: Now how to reach Tamil Nadu? How to reach Tamil Nadu? Talk to our sir, one minute

A clip of the same conversation has been widely shared on X by several users, including Congress leader Supriya Shrinate.

Kunal Kamra Refused To Apologise

Kunal Kamra on Monday refused to apologise after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis sought a retraction for his remarks against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Kamra, in a statement, asserted his right to freedom of speech, while questioning the selective enforcement of the law against those who vandalised the venue where his show was filmed.

Kamra criticised the attack on the venue, saying, “An entertainment venue is merely a platform. A space for all sorts of shows. Habitat (or any other venue) is not responsible for my comedy, nor does it have any power or control over what I say or do. Neither does any political party.” He likened the attack to “overturning a lorry carrying tomatoes because you didn’t like the butter chicken you were served.”
