TN Medico Attempts To Kill Self Due To Ragging In Dharmapuri Medical College
The father of the student alleged his son decided to take extreme decision after college management instead of taking action pacified them over giving a police complaint about the ragging incident.
Chennai: A second-year medical student from Dharmapuri Medical College was found in an unconscious state on Sunday after he allegedly attempted suicide due to ragging. The student V Saravanan from Namakkal took the extreme step after he was reportedly threatened to get liquor and cigarettes by his four seniors a week ago.
According to a report on Times of India, Saravanan is currently receiving treatment from Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital and his condition is stable.
Venkatachalam, the father of Saravanan said that he received a call from the college informing him that his son attempted to kill himself due to depression.
However, he said that his son decided to take the extreme decision after the college management pacified them from giving a police complaint about the alleged ragging incident.

The father said, four seniors of his son on November 23 ragged him and attacked him by placing an old liquor bottle on his neck. They also forced him to get liquor and cigarettes on November 23.
The father said, his son dejected by the incident allegedly tried to kill himself and was found in an unconscious condition on Sunday.
However, the Dean of the college Dr Amudhavalli said that the third-year students have been suspended and necessary action will be taken against them after an inquiry.
However, Dharmapuri SP Kalaichelvan refused to comment on the ragging angle.
