TN CM Stalin Asks Rebel DMK Councillors To Resign
The DMK leader also expressed his regret to alliance party leaders.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday slammed the rebel councillors of DMK and ordered them to resign from the posts of mayors or deputy mayors of civic bodies or as chairman or deputy chairman of the panchayats from wards allotted to the allies.
On Friday, in the scheduled indirect polls, DMK and allies witnessed chaotic scenes with rebel councillors contesting from wards allotted to the allies of DMK by the party’s high command.
In a press note on Friday, DMK president Stalin said, "Some of the incidents that took place during the indirect polls have saddened me. It has made me worry about my victory itself."

"The words of DMK founder Anna goes by "Duty, Dignity, Discipline" and the last word discipline is the most important and even Karunanidhi has reiterated it. However, some have not followed that disciple and decided to contest in the wards allotted for the allies. The winners can think as though they have achieved something but I'm standing in guilt as the party president," he said.
The DMK leader then expressed his regret to alliance party leaders.
Further, slamming the rebel winners he said, "The rebels should immediately resign. If they don't then they'll be removed from the party. They contested from rising sun symbol and recorded a victory but now they function in a way to bring disgrace to the party."
Lastly, he ordered all the rebels to resign and then meet him. He trusted the work with district secretaries to ensure the resignation and requested them to act swiftly.
