Tamil Nadu: Youth Beats Security Guard To Death For Confronting Him Against Smoking Near College Campus

The four youngsters were reportedly not students of the college but were at the secluded place for drinking, smoking and using free wifi provided by the college. 

Chennai: A youngster beat a college guard to death for confronting him and his friends for drinking and smoking marijuana near a campus of a private college in Tiruvallur on Monday. 

The four youngsters were reportedly not students of the college but were at the place to use free wifi provided by the college. 

According to a report on Times of India, the deceased was identified as Subramani (54), the guard of a private college.  The guard was reportedly aware of the gang since they frequently visited the isolated area, consumed alcohol and also smoked cannabis. At times, they even tried to come inside the campus.

On Monday, a staffer heard someone singing on the campus and they alerted Subramani to check the campus. Subramani who was in his home went back to the campus. He then checked the premises and saw the youngsters near the campus. He tried to warn and let them off since two of them were his relatives but the youngsters started to manhandle him.

One of his relatives, Naveen strongly attacked Subramani and pushed him to the ground. In the impact, Subramani suffered a head injury and became unconscious.

A staffer who heard the commotion and came out of the premises rushed Subramani to a Government Hospital. However, Subramani was declared dead by the doctors.

Following this, Pothatturpettai police arrested Naveen.
