Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. The CM last reviewed the arrangements undertaken for the chess Olympiad in Chennai hours before testing positive for the virus.

In a tweet, Stalin said, "I was feeling tired in the morning. So, I got tested for coronavirus. I have tested positive for the virus so I've isolated myself. Let us all wear masks, get vaccinated and let's stay safe."

Earlier in the day, he took to the Twitter about he inspecting the rainwater drainage and flood prevention works in the Chengalpattu district. The rainwater drainage and flood prevention works are being carried out in Semmancheri at an estimated cost of Rs 75 crore. "The government is taking all precautionary measures to prevent rain and flood," Stalin wrote on his Twitter handle, along with a video of he inspecting the works being carried out.

Meanwhile, the state recorded 2,448 Covid-19 cases on Monday with no fatalities. Also, the number of Covid-19 patients recovered from the virus have outnumbered fresh cases after 52 days with 2,465 recuperating from it. Four districts accounted to more than half of the cases recorded while Chennai alone saw 796 people testing positive for the deadly virus.

On the flip side, India on Tuesday logged 13,615 fresh Covid-19 cases, according to the Union Health Ministry data. 20 new fatalities have been recorded as on Tuesday at 8 AM.
