Tamil Nadu: Two Medical Students Die By Suicide In Two Days In Tiruvarur & Coimbatore

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu government has transferred the suicide case of Tiruvarur student to CB-CID for investigation.

Chennai: Two medical students have died by suicide in Tiruvarur and Coimbatore districts in the past two days (Friday and Thursday). While one of the students who died by suicide on Friday was pursuing her MBBS course at Tiruvarur Government Medical College, the other student was pursuing Doctorate of Medicine in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

According to a report on ABP Nadu, Gayathri of Namakkal, a final year medical student of Tiruvarur Government Medical college, was staying alone in a room at the college's hostel.

On Friday, Gayathri did not step out of her room so her friends got suspicious and started to knock on the door. However, Gayathri did not respond so they broke open the door with the help of the warden. Upon entering the room, they were shocked to see Gayathri in an unconscious state. They rushed her to the hospital but the doctors declared her dead.

The police then registered a case and started an investigation. They also retrieved a suicide note of the student that said that she took the decision due to stress and pressure. However, the case has been transferred to CB-CID for investigation.
