Tamil Nadu: Gingee Govt School Teacher Suspended For Giving Corporal Punishment To 70 Kids

Based on the orders from Villupuram Collector D Mohan, the Chief Educational Officer ordered to suspend the teacher Nandagopal.

Chennai: A government school teacher was suspended from duty for allegedly hitting over 70 students with a cane in Gingee of Villupuram district on Wednesday. 

The Raja Desingh school has a strength of over 1,110 students. Of the total, 120 students are studying in Class 12. 

According to a report on ABP Nadu, Nandagopal, a Physics teacher in the school, conducted a physics test for Class 12 students on Tuesday. However, the students reportedly did not finish the test on time. Angered by this, Nandagopal reportedly took a cane and beat 72 students on their hands and back. Some of them even suffered minor injuries.

The students then informed their parents.

Following this, the parents on Wednesday came to the school to visit the headmaster. Later, they took to protest and demanded action against Nandagopal. The Gingee police also rushed to the spot upon hearing about the protest.

The CEO Krishnapriya also reached the spot and tried to pacify the parents. She also assured to take against Nandagopal who went absconded by then.

Based on the assurance, the parents dispersed from the place. 

Then, following orders from the Villupuram Collector D Mohan, the Chief Educational Officer then ordered to suspend Nandagopal.
