Tamil Nadu: BJP Leader Suriyaa Siva Arrested For Threatening Bus Driver & Hijacking His Bus

However, BJP members learning about his arrest besieged the police station and staged a protest against the arrest.

Chennai: BJP State General Secretary of OBC Morcha Suriyaa Siva was arrested by Trichy Cantonment police for allegedly threatening a bus driver and taking away his Omni bus parked at a bus stop as compensation for damages caused to his vehicle during an accident. Suriya Siva is the son of DMK MP Tiruchi Siva and Suriyaa had recently quit DMK and joined BJP. 

According to a report on The Hindu, recently a car in which Suriyaa Siva was traveling was hit by an Omni bus. Suriyaa Siva immediately got out of the vehicle and reportedly abused and intimated the bus owner. He also reportedly demanded a huge sum as compensation for the accident. 

Later, Suriyaa allegedly took away the Omni bus from the bus stand to Malliampathu, a place on the outskirts of Trichy as compensation for his vehicle.

Upon learning about the incident, the manager of the travels gave a complaint to Tiruchy Cantonment Police. The police then registered a case under sections of Indian Penal Code including uttering obscene words, putting a person in fear of injury to commit extortion and punishment for dacoity.

The police then arrested Suriyaa Siva. However, BJP members learning about his arrest besieged the police station and staged a protest against the arrest. Later, the police detained them and took them to a wedding hall.

However, TN BJP chief Annamalai taking to Twitter condemned the arrest and said alleged that TN CM Stalin fabricated the case.
