Whole World Is Looking At India's Youth: PM Modi At Anna University Convocation

PM Modi also touched upon National Education Policy (NEP) which is opposed by Tamil Nadu and said, "NEP ensures greater freedom for youth to take decisions as per evolving decisions."

Chennai: “It is not just India that is looking up to its youth with hope. The whole world is looking at India's youth with hope,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 47th Anna University Convocation in Guindy on Friday. PM Modi also presented the gold medals to over 70 students who recently graduated from the University.

In the convocation address, PM Modi said, "Today is not a day of achievement but of aspirations. I wish that all dreams of our youth come true. This is also the time for teaching, non-teaching, support staff and Anna University. You are nation builders who are creating the leaders of tomorrow."

“It is not just India that is looking up to its youth with hope. The whole world is looking at India's youth with hope. You are the engine of India's growth. And India is the engine of the world's growth,” PM Modi.

PM Modi said: "You (Students) are graduating at a unique time. Some would call it the time of global uncertainty but I would call it the time of great opportunity. COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedented event. It tested every country. But India fought against it thanks to the effort of scientists, health care workers and public."

Yet, PM said, “India is at forefront of nations and industries are busting with new ideas. Our industry has risen to the occasion. Innovation has become way of life. So, India is converting obstacles into opportunities.”

Touching on National Education Policy, PM Modi said, "NEP ensures greater freedom for youth to take decisions as per evolving decisions."

PM congratulated everyone who got the convocation.

Addressing before PM, Stalin said, "Education is an asset that cannot be stolen by anyone. That is why we think there shouldn't be any restrictions on education. The Dravidian model also works towards educating all. Even the social justice is based on education for all, jobs for all, everyone should get everything."

Stalin then went on to list some of the schemes introduced by his government for education.

Encouraging entrepreneurship, Higher Education Minister Ponmudi said, "The intention of CM Stalin is to not just make the graduates employed but make many of them into entrepreneurs. That's is why Higher Education Department and Industrial Department are roped together and made to be under the ambit of 'Naan Mudhalvan Scheme' of TN CM Stalin."
