Mosque-goers Save Abandoned Newborn Baby From Garbage Dump In Trichy
In a shocking event, a newborn premature baby was found abandoned at a garbage dumping site in Trichy today morning (July 29).
Trichy: In a cinematic manner a newborn baby was saved by the passers-by who returning from Mosque after morning prayer.
The newborn premature infant was found with umbilical cord intact at a pile of garbage at Melachinthamani locality in Trichy in the wee hours on July 29.
According to the TOI, around 5: 30 am, a bunch of people who were returning from the mosque after their morning prayer heard the cry from a close-by garbage dump and which prompted them to give it take a check.
To their surprise, they saw a baby lying on piles of trash. They immediately rushed the baby to the nearby primary health care center where the medical worker removed the umbilical cord and sent the baby to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital. The baby, weighing 1.2 kg, was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit in the hospital for observation, as per reports.
Doctors told the Sevai Childline coordinator M Ashraf Ali, (The SEVAI NGO located in Tiruchirapalli, works for the welfare of the people of Tamil), who came forward in the child's rescue, that the baby is premature and it needed constant medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Fort police have asked the local residents to find the parents of the baby. But the cops got no help as the local people had no clue about it. In further inquiry, police are checking footages from CCTV camera in the area to trace the people abandoned who the baby.
