Health Ministry Grants 27% Reservation To OBC, 10% To EWS Candidates From All-India Quota For NEET

Medical Courses Reservation: "Nearly 5,550 students will be benefitted. Government is committed to providing due reservation both to BC and EWS Category," the Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted. 

Medical Courses Reservation Update: The Union Health Ministry on Thursday decided to provide a 27% reservation for OBCs & 10% reservation for the Economically Weaker Section in the All India Quota Scheme for UG and PG medical/dental courses (MBBS/MD/MS/Diploma/BDS/MDS) from the current academic year 2021-22 onwards. 

"Nearly 5,550 students will be benefitted. The government is committed to providing due reservation both to Backward Category and EWS Category," the Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted. 

Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting had directed the concerned Union Ministry to facilitate an effective solution regarding the issue of reservation for Other Backward Class (OBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates from all-India quota for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET) held for both undergraduate (MBBS) and post-graduate courses.  

"The decision will benefit 1500 OBC students in MBBS and 2500 OBC students in postgraduation and also around 550 EWS students in MBBS and around 1000 EWS students in postgraduation," reads the official statement issued by the Union Ministry.
