Opposition's Presidential Candidate Yashwant Sinha Arrives At Chennai, To Meet TN CM Stalin For Mobilising Support

Chennai: Yashwant Sinha, the presidential candidate of the Opposition, is set to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at 5 pm on Thursday in order to mobilise the support for his candidature from DMK and its allies. Yashwant Sinha reached Chennai at noon on Thursday. 

Yashwant Sinha started to travel across the country after filing his nomination for the presidential election as the candidate of the Opposition parties on June 27.

In a tweet, Yashwant Sinha said, "Continuing my Presidential campaign, I will be in Tamil Nadu today and will interact with leaders of like-minded parties, the media and members of civil society."

Sinha who reached Chennai is expected to meet MK Stalin and the DMK representatives at the party office in Anna Arivalayam at 5 Pm.

After the meet, Sinha is expected to address the press at 6 pm. Later, he will attend an event organised by Gandhians associated with Social Harmony Federation at 7 pm. 

He will halt in Chennai on Thursday and leave to Raipur on Friday.

In Tamil Nadu, DMK, CPI, CPM, VCK and MDMK have announced their support for Sinha.

Sinha has gained the support of Congress, NCP, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress, DMK, CPI (M), CPI and RLD.  

Yashwant Sinha was the former Union Finance Minister from 1990 to 1991 under then PM Chandra Shekhar and again from March 1998 to July 2002 under then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. 

Meanwhile, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Draupadi Murmu will visit Chennai on Saturday (July 2) to gain the support of the parties.
