Railway Board Asks TN Job Aspirants To Appear For Online Test In J&K Exam Centre, Draws Flak

Chennai RRB allotted exam centres in places including Jammu & Kashmir, Allahabad to fill 2,500 vacancies.

Chennai: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has allotted exam centres for Tamil Nadu students to attend online test in far-off places including Jammu & Kashmir, Allahabad among others. The issue has created a stir and received flak from Madurai MP S Venkatesan and Dakshin Railway Employees Union (DREU).

Madurai MP S Venkatesan pointing out the discord condemned the allotment and requested the authorities to allow aspirants to appear for the test in Tamil Nadu.

According to a report on New Indian Express, Chennai RRB called for applications to fill 2,500 vacancies including station master, junior accounts assistant cum typist, commercial cum ticket clerk, goods guard, junior clerk cum typist and trains clerk in Non-Technical Popular Categories in Souther Railway around two years back.

The preliminary examination for the posts was held from December 2020 to July 2021. The next set of exams was scheduled for May 9 and 10, 2022. However, without holding the exams in Tamil Nadu, the candidates were allotted exam centres across the country.

In a letter, MP Su Venkatesan said, the long journey would be strenuous for the candidates and these aspirants do not speak Hindi so it's undemocratic to fix exam centres for Chennai RRB in other states.
