Brahmins In Tamil Nadu Fully Support Annamalai: BJP Leader V Maitreyan

Maitreyan also said that Brahmins seldom vote on caste lines.

BJP party leader V Maitreyan said that Brahmins in Tamil Nadu fully support BJP state chief K Annamalai for his honesty and his efforts to ensure corruption-free governance. He said that Brahmins are aware that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Annamalai are not Brahmins. However, they have faith in them for providing clean administration.

In a statement on Tuesday, the former AIADMK leader, as per PTI said, "Brahmins seldom vote on caste lines. They want the good governance of Modi to continue."

He also refused to accept the buzz that Annamalai was sidelined by Brahmins in the party. He called it a rumour and said that he was able to infer the unwavering support for Annamalai after having interaction with the members of community and certain associations.

He said two Brahmins in Narendra Modi's cabinet, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar, excel in their respective portfolios.

However, he claimed that false propaganda was being spread to split the votes of the community and exuded hope that the Brahmins will not fall into the trap.

He also said that Tamil Nadu Brahmins are not caste-based voters.

They thankfully recall that Annamalai is the only leader who raised their voice for the Brahmins of Tamil Nadu. All Tamil Nadu Brahmins support Annamalai since they want to contribute to PM Modi's government formation for the third consecutive time. Our only aim is to bag 25 MPs from Tamil Nadu in support of PM Modi, he said.

Former AIADMK MP V Maitreyan joined BJP on June 9. He was previously with the BJP till early 2000 but later quit the saffron party to join AIADMK. He is also the son of Indian Independence activist KR Vasudevan. V Maitreyan was expelled from the primary membership of the AIADMK party in 2022.
