Within 2 Hours, Congress's 5 Poll Guarantees Will Become Law: Rahul Gandhi At K'taka Oath Ceremony

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi at Siddaramaiah's swearing-in ceremony said that within 2 hours, the five poll "guarantees" by the party "will become law."

As Karnataka got its new Chief Minister and cabinet today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the five promises made by the party will become law within one or two hours as soon as the first cabinet meeting of the Karnataka government is held. Gandhi asserted that Congress doesn't make false promises and does what it says.

"We made 5 promises to you. I had said we don't make false promises. We do what we say. In 1-2 hours, the first cabinet meeting of the Karnataka govt will happen and in that meeting these 5 promises will become law," Rahul Gandhi said, as per news agency ANI.

The Congress leader further said, "We will give you a clean, non-corrupt government." His statements came minutes after Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge made similar remarks saying, "We will walk the talk, we will implement all five guarantees."

While talking about Congress' major win, the former Congress president said, "After Congress's victory, many things were written as to how Congress won this election, different analyses were done but I want to say that Congress won because we stood with the poor, Dalits, and Adivasis, backward. We had the truth, poor people. BJP had money, police, and everything but the people of Karnataka defeated all their powers." "Nafrat ko mitaya, Mohabbat jeeti (Hate was eradicated and love won)," Rahul added.

What Are Those 5 Promises?

  • Gruha Lakshmi: Rs 2,000 will be provided each month to Every Woman head of a house.
  • Yuva Nidhi: Unemployed graduates will be provided Rs 3,000 each month and Rs 1,500 to unemployed diploma holders.
  • Anna Bhagya: 10 kgs of rice will be provided per person each month to BPL families.
  • Gruha Jyoti: Congress government in Karnataka ill provide 200 units of free electricity for every single household in the state.

Besides them, Dr. G Parameshwara, KH Muniyappa, KJ George, MB Patil, Satish Jarkiholi, Priyank Kharge (son of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge), Ramalinga Reddy, and BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan were sworn-in as cabinet ministers today.
