Uttarakhand CM Dhami Launches 'Vatsalya Yojana' For Children Orphaned By COVID; Know Details

Financial assistance from the Government will be directly deposited in the bank accounts of orphaned children through DBT (Direct Bank Transfer). 

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has launched Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana. 1062 children who were orphaned in Uttarakhand during the COVID-19 period, who will now be eligible to get financial assistance under Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana.

Financial assistance from the Government will be directly deposited in the bank accounts of orphaned children through DBT (Direct Bank Transfer). The first and second wave of COVID-19 wreaked havoc across the country.

Many children became orphans when they lost one or both of their parents. Such children will be helped by Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana. Under the Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana, a total of 1062 children were given an amount of Rs. 3,000 through DBT in the first phase. 

Announcement to give 5% reservation in jobs
After completion of the first phase, the Uttarakhand government is also looking to facilitate benefits for these orphaned children in the second round of this welfare scheme. All the children who were orphaned due to COVID-19 period can claim benefits from the scheme.

Along with this, CM Dhami has also announced to provide 5 percent reservation to orphaned children of government employees. Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya said that this scheme will prove to be a milestone for the orphaned children and would show that the government is always with them.

The surviving parents of the children associated with the scheme have expressed their gratitude by saying that the government has given them great relief. Children will greatly benefit from this scheme and would surely excel in the future.

CM Dhami is their uncle, and Minister Rekha Arya their aunt 
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami started the Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana at the CM residence. The CM said that all the children who were orphaned due to COVID-19 can consider him as their maternal uncle from today and Women and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya as their aunt. "All the children who have been orphaned due to COVID-19 should not consider themselves alone because the Chief Minister and the Women and Child Development Minister are their family," CM Dhami said that the state government will provide all possible help to all the orphaned children in the future.
