UP Unlock: Religious Places To Open During Weekend Lockdown, Only Five Devotees Allowed Inside

Not more than five devotees can be present inside places of worship at any given time. Industrial units will also be allowed to function on weekends.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to allow places of worship to remain open even during the weekend curfew. However, not more than five devotees can be present inside religious places at any given time. Earlier, the government had allowed religious places to operate only from Monday to Friday.

According to a government spokesperson, depending on the area of the premises, a maximum of 50 persons were allowed inside. The spokesperson also said that industrial units would also be allowed to function over the weekend.

The spokesman said: "While the government has opened most places from Monday, curfew will be imposed on weekends to ensure that the rate of COVID-19 infections remains low. However, religious places and industrial units will be allowed to be open on these two days. The police want people to be respectful and sympathetic. It must also be ensured that there is no unnecessary crowd at any place."

With the effect of the second wave of the virus decreasing, the Yogi government has also started providing relief. After removing the partial curfew in 75 districts, the night curfew has also been relaxed a little. Apart from this, restaurants, parks, and street food shops have also been allowed to open with some restrictions.
