UP: Muzaffarnagar DM, SSP Conduct Foot March With ATS Commandos Ahead Of Kanwariyas' Arrival

SSP Abhishek Singh stated that a team of Rapid Action Force, six teams of Provincial Armed Constabulary, and ATS commandos have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident from happening.

Muzaffarnagar top officials including District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari and Senior Superintendent of Police Abhishek Singh on Saturday conducted a foot march with the Anti Terror Squad Commando Unit in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. This comes as the security was intensified in the area along the Kanwar Yatra routes, ahead of the arrival of the Kanwariyas.

DM Bangari said: "As you know the Kanwar Yatra is at its peak and a lot of kanwar yatris have been coming to Muzaffarnagar, we made suitable preparations way before it all started. Our police personnel as well as our personnel from other departments have been managing to ensure that there are no difficulties during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. We are trying to ensure that all our police personnel are appropriately deployed at the duty point."

ATS of Uttar Pradesh have been deployed at Shiv Chowk in Muzaffarnagar, where the Kanwariyas from Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and other UP districts will pass while returning from Haridwar.

Security Intensified Along Kanwar Yatra Routes

SSP Abhishek Singh said that the ATS commandos have been posted at the chowk to avoid any untoward incident from happening.

He also said that a team of Rapid Action Force, six teams of PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) and ATS commandos have been deployed in the district for security purposes.

"Our ATS's SPOT Commando Unit is UP's counter strike team. If any terrorist attack takes place anywhere in the state, then this team is mobilized first. They have been specially deployed here in Muzaffarnagar because as you know, there is always a threat of terror attack in all the religious yatras...All the Kanwariyas come from Haridwar, about 50% of the Kanwariyas pass through Muzaffarnagar and the point where I am standing, all the other Kanwariyas from other states bifurcate from here," SSP Abhishek Singh said.

He further stated: "Behind me, you can see Shiv Chowk where there is going to be a lot of crowd and on the day of Shivratri, this entire area will be jampacked. If any terrorist organization has any such plans, then all these preparations are made to foil them... ATS and STF teams are also working on this continuous backend and if any attack takes place here on the spot like an ID attack, then to deal with them immediately our BDDS and ATS have a specialised commander unit here, through which they will be neutralised."
