6 Cops Suspended, 3 Booked For Beating Businessman To Death In Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur police have been accused of brutally beating a man. The young man has died. 6 policemen have been suspended in the case.

New Delhi: A case has been registered against policemen in connection to the death of a Kanpur businessman at a hotel in Gorakhpur. It is alleged that the businessman died after being beaten up by the cops during a raid.

Six policemen have been suspended after the incident came to light confirmed Dr. Vipin Tada, Gorakhpur SSP and on the complaint of the relatives, a case has been registered against three other officers. Taking cognizance of the case the UP CM has approved a relief amount for the family.

CM Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victim's family. The Chief Minister has also assured the family members of an impartial inquiry. Earlier, the SSP suspended 6 policemen in this case on Tuesday morning. 

What is the entire case?

It is alleged that Manish Kumar Gupta (36 years), a property dealer from Kanpur stayed in room 512 of Krishna Palace located on Deoria bypass road of Ramgarhtal police station area of Gorakhpur along with his friend Arvind Singh, a resident of Haryana Gurgaon and Pradeep, a resident of Delhi. He was there to meet his friends Chandan Saini and Rana Pratap Chand. Some policemen raided the hotel late on Monday night and entered his room asking for identity cards. 

Manish asked the policemen to look for the identity cards at the reception desk. Manish's words reportedly angered the policemen and they brutally killed him. The policemen slapped Manish, Arvind, and Pradeep and brought them downstairs. It is alleged that after some time, when the policemen dragged Manish down from the lift, his nose and mouth were bleeding. The policemen then took him to a private hospital and then to BRD Medical College where he died.

Manish's family is in turmoil after his death. The family members have demanded strict action in the matter. Manish's wife Meenakshi said, "those who have killed her husband should be severely punished. Wearing uniforms doesn't mean that they are not citizens."

Family members claimed that Manish had injuries on his hands, head, and face made with the butt of the rifle. His nose and mouth were bleeding His hands were been badly bruised and injured. They know he has been killed.
