A disturbing video from East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai has gone viral on social media, showing a group of young women being chased by a few men in another car. The video has sparked outrage and triggered a political controversy after it was revealed that the alleged perpetrators’ vehicle had a flag of the ruling DMK.
In the video, the women are seen sitting inside their car when a man suddenly runs toward them, signaling for them to stop. This causes panic, prompting the driver to accelerate quickly.
As the women continued driving, ignoring the men, the latter parked their car in the middle of the road, blocking the women's vehicle from moving forward. A voice in the video is heard instructing to reverse the car. The women then reverse and attempt to escape, but the men follow them, persistently honking and flashing their headlights in what appears to be an attempt to intimidate them.

Following the incident, the women lodged a complaint at the Kanathur Police Station. The police have launched an investigation to identify the accused and ascertain the motive behind the chase.
The incident has now taken a political turn, with opposition parties AIADMK and BJP accusing the ruling DMK of failing to maintain law and order in Tamil Nadu. They have demanded strict action against those involved and questioned the safety of women in the state. Meanwhile, DMK leaders have yet to respond to the allegations.
Taking to X, Tamil Nadu Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami said, "I strongly condemn this Stalin-led DMK government, which has completely destroyed the law and order of Tamil Nadu to the extent of boldly attacking women on the main road of the state, ECR. I urge the DMK government to register an FIR in this case, ensure that the details of the victims are not leaked, arrest all those involved in this crime without political interference, and take appropriate legal action."
