Champions Trophy 2025: Teams Who Never Won World Cup But Lifted Champions Trophy
Since its inception, the Champions Trophy has had eight editions, with the last one held in 2017, where Pakistan defeated India in the final.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to begin in Pakistan on February 19, following a hybrid model (matches at neutral venue). Team India will play all its Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Dubai, while the other seven teams, including host Pakistan, will play in Pakistan. Notably, Sri Lanka and West Indies are not part of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 edition.

South Africa won their first ICC trophy in 1998
In the 1998 edition, South Africa clinched their first ICC trophy by defeating West Indies in the final. Chasing 246 runs, the Proteas secured the title with 248/6. Jacques Kallis, who scored 37 runs and took 5 wickets, was named Player of the Match. His overall tournament performance (164 runs & 8 wickets) also earned him the Player of the Series award.
New Zealand clinched their first major ICC event by defeating India
In 2000, New Zealand won their first major ICC event by defeating India in the final. Chasing 265 runs, the Kiwis won with 265/6, thanks to a match-winning unbeaten century (102) by Chris Cairns*. Despite their success in the Champions Trophy, New Zealand has yet to win an ODI or T20 World Cup.
Other past winners of Champions Trophy include Sri Lanka and India (joint winners in 2002), West Indies (2004), Australia (2006, 2009), India (2013), and Pakistan (2017).
India arrives in Dubai
The Indian team landed in Dubai on Saturday for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to begin on February 19. India last won the tournament in 2013 under MS Dhoni's captaincy. Upon arrival, the players and support staff boarded the team bus and headed to their hotel, ready to kick off their campaign.
India's first match in CT 2025 will be against Bangladesh.
