Pak Troops Suffer 'Heavy Casualties' After Indian Army Retaliates In Poonch

Similarly, Pakistani troops on Wednesday (February 12) resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, violating the ceasefire which led to a befitting response by the Indian Army.

Although the extent of damage on Pakistan's side remains unknown, the security officials said the enemy forces suffered "heavy casualties". The Indian Army neither confirmed nor denied the information, news agency PTI reported.

The ceasefire violation in the Krishna Ghati sector came a day after two Indian Army personnel were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in the Akhnoor sector if Jammu district. A captain was also among those killed in the attack which was said to have been triggered by suspected terrorists near the LoC in Akhnoor.

The ceasefire violation along the LoC happens rarely ever since India and Pakistan renewed the ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021.

The security officials told PTI that Pakistani troops fired on a forward post in the Tarkundi area along the LoC, which further prompted Indian Army to retaliate, resulting in "heavy casualties" among the enemy forces.

Meanwhile, the officials said a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army suffered minor injuries after he accidentally stepped over a landmine in the same sector on Wednesday evening.
