Rohith Vemula's Brother Expects Justice As Promised By Telangana CM, Alleges Fabrication In Previous Report

Vemula Raja believed that the Telangana Congress government would deliver justice not only to Rohith Vemula but also to other affected students.

Vemula Raja, brother of Rohith Vemula, conveyed his trust in the current re-investigation of his brother's suicide at the University of Hyderabad in 2016, as promised by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday. He believed that the Telangana Congress government will deliver justice not only to Rohith Vemula but also to other affected students.

Vemula Raja, Rohith Vemula's brother said, "The case is on, the re-investigation will go as promised by the Chief Minister and that investigation would be fair and transparent. We believe that the Telangana's Congress govt & CM Revanth Reddy to deliver justice to Rohith Vemula and other students."

"This report was fabricated in 2017-2018, which was put in court in a hurry, due to the election or I don't know the political reasons behind it. We have taken this to the CM's consideration and he has promised us justice. The truth will come out someday and all the culprits will be behind bars," he said.

ALSO REPORT: Telangana Police To Reopen Rohith Vemula Case After Family Casts Doubts On Closure Report

The Rohith Vemula case resurfaced in the news when the Telangana police submitted a closure report, disputing Vemula's Dalit identity and suggesting that his apprehension about his "true caste" led to his suicide. Over a month later, the police announced the reopening of the case on Friday following concerns raised by Vemula's family and others. Notably the report cleared all accused individuals of wrongdoing.

Radhika Vemula, the mother of Rohith Vemula, reaffirmed their Scheduled Caste identity, rejecting the assertions made in the closure report.
