Flying Squad Busts Mass Cheating In Rajasthan School As Teachers Caught Writing Answers On Board — On Cam

The flying squad were forced to jump over the walls of the school where they caught teachers helping students in cheating and answers being written on blackboards.

A mass cheating operation was busted after a vigilance squad from the Rajasthan Education Department along with the state-level flying squad raided a government middle school in Dechu, catching teachers red-handed as they helped students cheat.

Recounting the details, Nishi Jain, who headed the flying squad said that they had received information about organised cheating at the school.

Mathematics and Physics examination for Class 10 and 12 were being conducted when the mass cheating was busted.

"When we came to check, we found the gates of the school locked and were forced to jump over the walls. We found that teachers were organising mass-scale cheating, with answers written on blackboards for students to copy," NDTV quoted Jain as saying.

12 Including Principal Booked

Aruna Rajoriya, Secreatry Rajasthan State Open School said: "After entering we saw three people including the examination in-charge running away. My team members checked each classroom and found answers written on two blackboards. In another classroom we caught a man named Shivraj Meena, who was getting answers written on the board."

"In a seating arrangement meant for 35 students, only 25 were seated. Space was left vacant for 10 students, but their copies were kept there for cheating. In another classroom there were 19 copies but only 10 students," she added.

Rajoriya also claimed that she saw two people and two teachers including Shivraj Meena running away from the school premises.

It is likely that the other teachers was a supervisor. The authorities are yet to get details about him, she said.

"Complaints had been received over the past few days, and based on that, along with the state-level flying squad being active... we conducted an investigation at the school where we found instances of cheating during exams... In response, we have lodged FIRs against 12 individuals in the case..."

Apart from the answers written on the blackboards, the evidence gathered by the squad also included discoveries of monetary transactions.

Two teachers of the science stream were also caught acting as dummy candidates.

"We found substantial amounts of cash in possession of students," Jain added, "one student had ₹ 2,100 on them, while another confessed to offering ₹ 2,000 to teachers for unfair assistance," Jain said.

Following the discovery of the mass cheating at the school, the local authorities were alerted and a police team was dispatched to the spot.

"Immediate actions have been taken. Six third-grade teachers and one librarian have been suspended, and disciplinary actions are pending against the principal and the absent observer," Block Education Officer at Phalodi told NDTV.
