Maan Government's Commitment to Soldiers and Their Families

Understanding the risks involved in military service, the Maan Government has doubled the ex gratia compensation for soldiers injured in the line of duty.

Transforming Lives with Welfare Initiatives

The Maan Government, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan, is steadfastly committed to the welfare of soldiers, veterans, and the families of martyrs. Recognizing their unparalleled sacrifices, the government has introduced a series of impactful welfare measures to ensure financial security, respect, and a dignified life for them.

Enhanced Financial Assistance for Families of Martyrs

In a significant move, the Maan Government has increased the ex-gratia amount for families of martyred soldiers from ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore. As per Defense Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat, 24 families of martyrs have already benefited from this enhanced financial aid, reinforcing the government’s dedication to honoring their sacrifices.

Higher Compensation for Injured Soldiers and Accidental Deaths

Understanding the risks involved in military service, the Maan Government has doubled the ex gratia compensation for soldiers injured in the line of duty. Depending on the level of disability, they are now entitled to compensation ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹40 lakh. Additionally, in case of accidental death due to service-related injuries, the family of the deceased soldier receives ₹25 lakh as financial assistance.

Monthly Pension for Soldiers Affected by Operation Bluestar

The Maan government has also increased the monthly financial aid for soldiers affected by Operation Bluestar from ₹10,000 to ₹12,000. This support acknowledges their sacrifices and ensures their well-being.

Annual Financial Aid Boost for Beneficiaries of War Jagir Scheme

To further uplift the lives of war veterans and their dependents, the financial assistance provided under the War Jagir Scheme has been doubled from ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 annually.

Increased Financial Support for Senior Veterans and War Heroes

For non-pensioned veterans of World War I and II, as well as their widows (aged 65 and above), the monthly financial aid has been raised from ₹6,000 to ₹10,000. Additionally, soldiers honored with the prestigious Param Vishisht Seva Medal now receive ₹6 lakh, while Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal awardees are granted ₹6.50 lakh as recognition of their service.

Government Jobs for Dependents of Martyrs

Under the Honors & Gratuity Policy, 14 dependents of martyrs have been offered government jobs, ensuring financial stability for their families. Moreover, the Punjab Government has implemented a 13% reservation in direct recruitment for ex-servicemen and their dependents. As a result, 2,044 posts have been filled over the last two years, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to empowering veterans and their families.

These initiatives are a testament to the Maan Government’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of soldiers, veterans, and their families. By offering financial security, employment opportunities, and dignified living conditions, the Maan Government ensures that the heroes who safeguard our nation receive the honor and support they rightfully deserve.
