Dial 112: Punjab's Promise Of Faster, Smarter Emergency Response

Punjab Police’s Dial 112 Emergency Response Service is being rapidly upgraded to become one of the fastest and most efficient in the country.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is stepping into a new era of public safety, where help in an emergency isn’t just a hope it’s a promise.

Whether it’s a medical crisis, a fire, a road accident, or a threat to law and order, every second counts. Recognizing this, the Mann Government has made a strong commitment to ensure that no call for help goes unanswered and no life is left waiting. Not just sirens but solution reaches in time.

 Dial 112 – Because Help Can’t Wait

Punjab Police’s Dial 112 Emergency Response Service is being rapidly upgraded to become one of the fastest and most efficient in the country. With a dedicated fleet of Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) and a promise to respond to every call, the system is being strengthened like never before.

Stronger Response, Quicker Action

At present, Punjab Police has 258 ERVs deployed across the state. The current average response time is 30 minutes but that’s about to change. The Mann Government has rolled out a major expansion plan to shrink response times to just 8 minutes, aiming to set a national benchmark in emergency services.

New Fleet, New Force

In the coming year, the state will induct 758 new four-wheelers, and 916 two-wheelers, into its emergency response fleet. This will increase the ERV strength by nearly six times, ensuring that help is just minutes away, even in the remotest corners of the state.

Tech Meets Trust

To power this transformation, the government is also setting up a state-of-the-art central headquarters for Dial 112 in Mohali. This command centre will be equipped with the latest technologies in communication, coordination, and dispatch, making it the nerve centre of Punjab’s new-age emergency services.

A Vision with a Heart

Beyond the numbers and logistics, this initiative is about something deeper trust. Trust that if your loved ones are in trouble, the system will not fail them. Trust that a mother in distress, a child in danger, or a senior in need will not be alone. Dial 112 is Punjab's collective commitment to its people a lifeline built on compassion and speed.

An Investment in Safety

With a budget allocation of ₹178 crore, the Mann Government is not just upgrading a service, it is redefining public safety as a priority. From fighting drug abuse and cracking down on organized crime to responding swiftly in emergencies, Dial 112 will be the backbone of a safer, stronger Punjab.

Because emergencies don’t wait. And now, neither will Punjab, Thanks to the Maan Government and the thoughtful initiative.
