'2500 Posts In Police Department Will Be Filled Up Soon': Punjab CM Mann

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that the recruitment process will increase the police workforce and will help dealing with other challenges including maintaining law and order in an effective manner.

New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday announced that the process of filling around 2500 posts in the Police department will begin soon. In a statement, the Chief Minister said that the examination will be conducted by the end of this month to fill the posts, asserting that merit will be the single thumb rule for the entire recruitment process.

Mann said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had given appointment letters to 4374 constables and recruitment of over 2500 more police personnel in the Punjab Police department will be done soon as part of the ongoing process of providing employment to the youth of Punjab. He said that all the recruitments would be done on merit basis, without bribe or recommendations.

CM Mann said that this will increase the police workforce and will help dealing with other challenges including maintaining law and order in an effective manner. The Chief Minister said that 1156 posts of constable (Intelligence and Investigation Cadre) and 786 posts of Diwan (Head Constable) in the Intelligence Department would be recruited. A total number of 560 posts of Sub-Inspector (Investigation, Intelligence, District and Armed Police Cadre) would also be filled. 

The examination for the recruitment of constable and diwan will be held on October 14 and 15 and for the post of sub-inspector on October 16. The CM also announced that Punjab government has already given appointment letters to 4,374 constables in the police force, adding the recruitment for all posts will be done with complete transparency.
