Nurse In Maharashtra's Thane Loses Her Arm & Leg After Being Run Over By Goods Train
The victim was identified as a 53-year-old nurse named Vidya Vakharikar. She was rushing to reach her workplace when the unfortunate incident took place.
In a shocking event, a nurse lost one of her arms and a leg after she got run over by a train at Asangaon in Maharashtra's Thane district. The victim was identified as a 53-year-old nurse named Vidya Vakharikar. At the time of the unfortunate accident, she was in a hurry to board a train to reach Sion in Mumbai where she works in a hospital. A Government Railway Police while talking to the news agency PTI on the matter said, "In the rush to reach the platform at Asangaon railway station, the nurse decided to take a shortcut (by crossing the tracks). As she was passing under a stationary goods train, it started moving leaving Vakharikar wounded with serious injuries," the official said.
Vakharikar was immediately rushed to a local hospital after the incident and later she was shifted to Sion in Mumbai, reported PTI.
Another such accident occurred last year in December in which a 17-year-old vegetable vendor lost his legs after he was run over by a train while he was trying to pick up the weighing scales that were allegedly thrown by a police official on the railway track in the Kalyanpur area of Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, as reported by the Times of India. TOI identified the victim as Arsalan alias Laddu, son of Salim Ahmed who is a resident of Kalyanpur's Saheb Nagar area.

The victim was rushed to a hospital following the accident and upon seeing the serious condition, he was referred to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow, as per TOI. A senior police official took serious note of the incident and suspended the accused head constable with immediate effect. Along with this, an inquiry was also launched into the matter.
