NCP Crisis: Sharad Pawar Faction Demands EC Action Against Ajit Camp For Affidavit 'Forgery' To Prove Strength
Abhishek Manu Singhvi claimed to have presented a list of affidavits filed with the EC that are riddled with errors.
New Delhi: Making sensational claims against the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the counsel for the rival Sharad Pawar-led faction, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, on Thursday said the former forged affidavits filed with the Election Commission (EC) to wrongly project support for his front.
Speaking to media persons after a hearing before the Election Commission on Thursday, Singhvi, flanked by Pawar, his daughter and MP Supriya Sule and other NCP leaders, said, “At the hearing before the EC, which got over a short while back, we presented some shocking and sensational facts.”

Singhvi, also a senior Congress leader, claimed to have presented a list of affidavits filed with the EC that are riddled with errors.
“Going over the documents filed by the applicant (Ajit Pawar faction of the NC) with the Commission, we found 20,000 affidavits riddled with errors. We presented a list of 8,900 such affidavits that clearly show that there was forgery and fraud. It also goes to show that the Ajit Pawar faction has no support.”
It is to be noted that the Ajit Pawar faction collected affidavits from party office bearers and functionaries to lay claim over the NCP. According to reports, each of the MLAs of the rival faction were asked to collect 10,000 signatures of party workers saying they were loyal to the faction.
Further informing that the hearing in the matter will continue on November 20, the senior advocate said the Pawar faction has sought ‘legal action’ against the rival front for alleged forgery.
“We have demanded that the EC take legal action against them (Ajit Pawar faction) under relevant IPC sections,” Singhvi added.
Notably, the first hearing on a claim by Ajit Pawar-led rival NCP faction over the party’s name and election symbol was held last month.
In an affidavit, the Ajit Pawar group claimed it had the support of 42 of the party’s 53 MLAs, six MLCs in Maharashtra, and all seven MLAs in Nagaland.
