Mumbai Police Steps Up Security At Chabad House After Image Found With Arrested Terror Suspects

Mumbai Police increases security at Chabad House, a 26/11 terror attack target, after finding Google image with suspects. Mohd Imran Mohd Yunus Khan and Mohd Yunus Mohd Yakub Saki arrested.

Mumbai Police heightened security measures outside Chabad House, one of the targets of the infamous 26/11 terror attack in Colaba, following the recovery of a Google image of the religious center from two arrested suspects on Saturday, news agency ANI reported. The accused, Mohd Imran Mohd Yunus Khan and Mohd Yunus Mohd Yakub Saki were recently apprehended by Maharashtra ATS in Pune, prompting authorities to launch an extensive investigation, it said.

Police discovered a Google image of Chabad House in their possession during the investigation, raising concerns and prompting immediate action to ensure the location's safety, according to the report. The Mumbai Police Commissionerate and the DG office have been informed of the situation, according to media reports citing Maharashtra ATS sources, prompting the implementation of increased security measures.

According to a report by Mid-Day, the Pune police arrested three people involved in bike theft earlier this month, while one escaped. Following investigations, it was discovered that these arrested individuals were linked to a terror-related case under the National Investigation Agency (NIA), resulting in an RS 5 lakh reward for their capture. The Maharashtra ATS took over the investigation and allegedly found incriminating evidence at their premises, implying their alleged involvement in "planning terror activities in the state".

The ATS claimed to have seized various items during searches in Kondhwa, including laptops, tablets, drones, maps, battery cells, electronic circuits, soldering guns, and suspected explosive material in the form of black powder, the report said.

As a result, they arrested Mohammed Imran Mohammed Yusuf Khan (23) and Mohammed Yunus Mohammed Yakub Saki (24), citing sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Based on information obtained during their interrogation, a third accused, Abdul Kadir (40), of Gondiya, was apprehended for allegedly providing shelter to the previously arrested individuals, it said.

The ATS further claimed that these suspects had been plotting terror activities in Pune for the past 15 months.

The agency is currently investigating the specifics of their plans as well as the anticipated timeline for their implementation. The ATS arrested a fourth suspect in the case, a Ratnagiri resident, on Friday, as per the report.
