Mail Threatening Talibani Terror Attack In Mumbai Received, NIA And Police Initiate Joint Probe

The NIA and Mumbai Police have launched a joint investigation to find the truth.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday received an email from an unidentified person, claiming to be a member of the Taliban, threatening to carry out a terror attack in Mumbai. NIA with Mumbai Police has launched a joint probe into the matter.

The central probe agency informed the Mumbai Police of this, following which several cities of Maharashtra have been put on alert, reported news agency ANI.

According to sources, a threatening mail was received on the e-mail ID of NIA, in which there has been a threat of terrorist attack in the city. The sender of the e-mail described himself as a Talibani and claimed that this was going to happen on the orders of Sirajuddin Haqqani, a prominent Taliban leader.

"The person who sent the threat mail described himself to be a Talibani. He said that there would be a terror attack in Mumbai," ANI quoted Mumbai Police sources as saying.

Meanwhile, the NIA and Mumbai Police came into action and launched a joint investigation to look for the authenticity of the mail.

According to the police, a call was received by a caller claiming that three bombs were planted in the city at Infinity Mall Andheri, PVR Mall Juhu, and Sahara Hotel Airport.
