Mumbai BMW Hit And Run Case: Cops Suspect Mihir Shah Lied About Age At Bar To Consume Alcohol — Top Points

BMW Hit-And-Run Case: The Mumbai Police in its preliminary investigation found that accused Mihir Shah might have lied in the Juhu bar about his age to consume hard drinks.

BMW Hit-And-Run Case: Mumbai police's preliminary probe into the BMW hit-and-run case has cast doubt over the actual age of the accused Mihir Shah, as they believe he misled the Juhu bar to consume hard drinks before the mishap in which a woman was killed.

The police are investigating the age angle to find answers to strengthen their case against Shah, who was arrested on Tuesday. According to officials, details about Shah and his friends were sought from the bar where he and his friends allegedly consumed alcohol.

As per the details, three of Shah's friends were over 30, and records suggest that Shah is 23 years old. However, the Juhu bar claimed that according to the ID card shown by Shah, his age was 27, and the same is reflected in his Facebook posts, according to ABP News sources.

Shah and driver Rajrishi Bidawat were taken to the accident site, and the entire crime scene was recreated, the police said.

Here Are Top Points:

  • Sources at Vice Global Tapas Bar told ABP News that the accused was served hard drinks and that there they find nothing wrong in it, despite excise department sealing the facility.
  • A person associated with the bar said that they checked the ID cards of the group that accompanied Shah, and most of the people in the group were over 30 years of age.
  • Notably, Shah had listed himself as a 27-year-old on both his ID card as well as the Facebook page. The staff said that they followed all procedures before serving the liquor.
  • According to the information received from the Worli police, both Shah and driver Rajrishi Bidawat were taken to the accident site, and the entire crime scene was recreated from CJ House Worli to Sea Link Worli.
  • The accused, while confessing to his crime, said that he repented for what he had done. Both accused, who are in the custody of Mumbai police, were confronted by police during interrogation. According to the police, Shah and his driver confessed their roles in the crime.
  • The police, however, said that they do not fully believe the statements, and their statements are being verified.
  • The victims were identified as 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa, who died after the incident while her husband Pradeep sustained injuries. The accused allegedly rammed his BMW into a scooter in Worli. The incident occurred on July 7.
  • The Mumbai Police was able to trace and catch the accused three days following the incident after one of his friends switched on his mobile phone.
  • Following the incident, Mihir called up his girlfriend and went to her home in Goregaon in an autorikshaw, as per the India Today report. According to NDTV, the police said that the accused left the BMW near Kala Nagar in Bandra.
