MNS Attacks Uddhav Thackeray's Convoy With Cow Dung After Raj’s Car Pelted With Betel Nuts, Visuals Surface

Police detained over 20 individuals over the attack on the convoy of former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray.

Following an incident where the car of Raj Thackeray was pelted with betel nuts on Friday, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers retaliated on Saturday by attacking the convoy of former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray with coconuts and cow dung.

MNS workers stated that this was in response to the attack on Raj Thackeray's vehicle. Police have confirmed the detention of over 20 individuals in connection with the incident, according to news agency ANI.

A senior official from the Thane police mentioned that a formal case is currently being registered.

MNS leader Avinash Jadhav said on the attack by Uddhav Thackeray's convoy, "Several Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders tried to stage a protest in front of Raj Thackeray's convoy yesterday. MNS workers have given a befitting reply to this in Thane today by attacking the convoy of Uddhav Thackeray. MNS workers threw tomatoes and cow dung at his convoy."

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey demanded Z category security for Uddhav saying, "The way Uddhav Thackeray's convoy was attacked in Thane... Uddhav Thackeray - who has Z category security - is the son of Balasaheb Thackeray and has been a CM of Maharashtra. This attack is a failure of the state government. The law and order situation has completely collapsed here and the home minister should resign"

Uddhav Thackeray Reiterates "Ahmed Shah Abdali" Jibe At Amit Shah

Recently, Uddhav Thackeray referred to BJP leader Amit Shah as "Ahmed Shah Abdali" after the Union Home Minister accused him of leading the "Aurangzeb fan club." Thackeray responded by asserting that his Shiv Sainiks are his "wagh-nakh," and he does not fear Abdali. The term 'wagh-nakh' refers to a tiger-claw weapon historically used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

According to PTI, Thackeray also pointed out that despite the Shiv Sena's original name and electoral symbol being taken, his party (Shiv Sena UBT) still garnered significant votes in the Thane and Kalyan Lok Sabha constituencies. These seats, once strongholds of the undivided Shiv Sena, were won by the rival faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Additionally, Thackeray highlighted his party's recent victories in the Mumbai Graduates and Mumbai Teachers Legislative Council seats. Lashing out at the Shinde government's 'Ladki Bahin' scheme, which provides eligible women with Rs 1500 per month, Thackeray questioned how the Rs 15 lakh promise made before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections had dwindled to Rs 1500.

"Rs 15 lakh were promised to be transferred in every Indian's bank account....the amount has come down to Rs 1500. People want their rights, and not alms," he said. He urged women to take advantage of the scheme but emphasised the importance of not compromising on self-respect.
