'Govt Working Proactively, Doing Everything Necessary': Nadda On Wayanad Landslides
JP Nadda addressed the landslide issue in the Rajya Sabha and said that the central government is doing everything necessary for relief work in Kerala's Wayanad.
Wayanad Landslide: Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader JP Nadda said that the central government is doing everything necessary for relief work in Kerala's Wayanad, where 43 people have lost their lives and 70 others suffered injuries following a massive landslide that hit hilly regions near Meppadi on Tuesday.
While speaking in Rajya Sabha, Nadda addressed the landslide issue and asserted that support from central agencies for relief has reached on the spot and work is being done in coordination with the state government. He also said that the landslide tragedy is not just of Kerala, but the entire country is concered due to the incident.
"Discussions began here and all the Members expressed their concern over the massive tragedy that has occurred there. I would like to say this is a tragedy of not just Kerala alone, but the entire nation is concerned...Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Government of India is working proactively and doing everything necessary for the relief work in Kerala," Nadda said.
The BJP leader said that the primary thing is to recover the bodies and save those who are alive and can be saved.
"On behalf of the Government, I assure you that whatever is needed will be done...PM spoke with the Kerala CM and gave him assurance. Support from central agencies for relief has reached there. Work is being done in coordination with the State Government. Right now, the primary thing is to recover the bodies and save those who can be saved...We should activate Emergency Response System. All of that is being done," he added.
