'Arvind Kejriwal Has Come To Loot Punjab,' Says CM Channi After Getting Clean Chit In Sand Mining Case

Channi’s statement came after he was given a clean chit in the illegal sand mining case from the Ropar district administration.

New Delhi: Days ahead of the assembly elections, Punjab CM and Congress’ CM candidate for the state Charanjit Singh Channi has attacked Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday.

Channi’s statement came after he was given a clean chit in the illegal sand mining case from the Ropar district administration.

Attacking Kejriwal, Channi said that he is a liar as he tried to level several allegations against him.

“Arvind Kejriwal is a liar...tried leveling several allegations against me, but none were true...They complained to the Governor (against me), he ordered an inquiry. Truth prevails,” Channi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Channi further compared Kejriwal and AAP leaders to the British rule claiming that they have come to “loot” Punjab, just like the British came to loot the country.

“British had come to loot India, likewise, Kejriwal and his Delhi family such as Raghav Chadha and other outsiders have come to loot Punjab. But Punjab will show them their place like it did to Mughals, British,” Channi said.

He also took a dig at Kejriwal saying that a government is “not formed on the basis of lies,” reported ANI.

The political temperature of Punjab has been very high lately considering the allegations of Channi being involved in illegal sand mining. In January, the Enforcement Directorate had seized more than Rs 10 crore cash, and Rs 21 lakh worth of gold from Channi’s nephew’s premises.

The ED had also arrested Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey in a money laundering and illegal sand mining case. Channi was also accused along with Honey.

Punjab will go to the assembly polls on February 20, and the result of the election will be declared on March 10, 2022.
