Sakleshpur Landslides

Earlier this week, heavy rains in Karnataka triggered landslides in the Sakleshpur taluk, disrupting road connectivity between several villages including Baarli-Mallagadde-Kaadumane-Sullaki-Mailahalli and Alur-Belur-Konerlu. The Bengaluru-Mangaluru NH-75 near Doddathappale in Sakleshpur taluk was also rendered impassable.

Moreover, the road linking Kumbaradi and Harle Estate in Sakleshpur taluk was washed away due to the downpour and subsequent landslide during the early hours of Tuesday. Villagers have voiced concerns, alleging that the ongoing unscientific Yettinahole project has contributed to the landslides in parts of Sakleshpur taluk. The Hassan district administration is actively addressing the aftermath of the landslides, prioritising both immediate relief and long-term solutions.

Meanwhile, the incident comes in the wake of massive landslide that struck Wayanad in Kerala which resulted in the death over 300 people.
