'Intel Warned Modi, But Tourists Got No Alert': Kharge Blames Centre Over Pahalgam Attack After 'Chut Put War'

Addressing during ‘Sadhana Samavesha’ event in Karnataka’, Kharge claimed that PM Modi avoided a scheduled visit to Kashmir due to security warnings but failed to extend similar caution to tourists.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the Modi-led central government over the recent Pahalgam terror attack, alleging that the administration failed to protect civilians despite prior intelligence alerts. Addressing the media during the ‘Sadhana Samavesha’ event in Karnataka’s Vijayanagara district, Kharge claimed that the Prime Minister avoided a scheduled visit to Kashmir due to security warnings but failed to extend similar caution to tourists.

On the Pahalgam terror attack, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, as per ANI, "26 people were killed in Kashmir because the Modi govt didn't provide security to tourists there. Modi did not go to Kashmir because the Intelligence agencies asked him not to. Why didn't you (Central govt) tell the tourists not to go there (Pahalgam)? If you had told them, 26 lives could have been saved, and this small war...."

Kharge made these remarks while attending the second-anniversary celebration of the Karnataka state government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The event, held in Hospet town, saw the participation of several top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Karnataka Govt Anniv Celebration

Earlier, Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi said that the people of Karnataka were benefiting from the guarantees of the Congress-led government. He said, "In the 21st century, digital registry (of land) should be done...The poor people of the state are going to benefit from our guarantees...I also said that there are 50,000 families who still do not have ownership rights. We want that in the next 6 months, they should also get their ownership rights. 2,000 revenue villages have been announced. We want 500 more revenue villages to be announced. Everyone in Karnataka should get their ownership rights..."

Earlier in the day, CM Siddaramaiah welcomed both Rahul Gandhi and Kharge at the Jindal Vijayanagara Airport in Ballari district before the convoy moved to the celebration venue.
