Suhas Shetty Murder Case Accused Attacked In Mangaluru Jail

Naushad, believed to have played a significant role in Suhas Shetty’s murder, sustained a leg injury during the scuffle.

Tensions ran high inside Mangaluru Sub-Jail on Monday evening as violence broke out among inmates, targeting Naushad alias Chotte Naushad, a key accused in the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty. According to police officials, the unrest began when two groups of undertrial inmates engaged in an altercation near the jail’s office area.

What started as aggressive stares and verbal abuse quickly escalated into a full-blown clash. Inmates reportedly hurled cement blocks at each other, leading to injuries, reported India Today. Naushad, believed to have played a significant role in Shetty’s murder, sustained a leg injury during the scuffle.

The situation worsened when inmates from another barrack stormed into the office area, smashing a glass door with their bare hands, further heightening the chaos, reported NDTV. Jail authorities managed to bring the situation under control, and an investigation is underway.

Murder Of Suhas Shetty

Suhas Shetty, 42, a former member of the Bajrang Dal and a prominent figure in right-wing circles of coastal Karnataka, was killed on May 1 near Kinnipadavu. Police reports state that a group of men, armed with swords and other sharp weapons, ambushed his vehicle and launched a brutal attack. However, Shetty succumbed to his injuries at AJ Hospital. Suhas Shetty was the prime accused in the infamous Fazil murder case.

In a related development, Karnataka Police on Tuesday registered an FIR against two Hindu activists for allegedly attempting to falsely implicate a police officer in Shetty’s murder, reported IANS.

The FIR, based on a complaint by Head Constable Rasheed, accuses Samitraj Daragudde, a leader from a Hindu organization, and KT Ullas, Regional Convenor of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, of defamation. Rasheed alleged that the duo wrongly linked him to the murder via social media, damaging his reputation and misleading the public.
